DIY Pesticide

You want to make your own organic pesticide. I came across  this recipe in Krishi Sutra: Profiles of Agricultural Innovation in India, Published by Small Farmers’ Agribusiness Consortium, New Delhi. Making it is very easy and is likely to save costs. Interestingly, it’s organic. It’s a  decoction of different types of leaves and other bio-materials.

Ingredients

  • 1 kg leaves each of Neem, Pongamiya, Custard apple, Ipomoea, and Caiotropsis gigantia (commonly known as Mader)
  • 250 gm Garlic (mashed)
  • 10 ltr. Water (non chlorinated)
  • 10 ltr. Cow urine

Method: The ingredients  are boiled  till the volume reduces to half i.e  10 ltrs. This decoction of 10 ltrs. is dissolved in 600–700 ltrs of water and sprayed on foliage and soil.
